Kamat unhappy over delayed arrest of Thackeray, Azmi
Mumbai, Feb 14 (UNI) Mumbai Regional Congress Committee president Gurudas Kamat has condemned the Mumbai police for the ''delay in arresting MNS chief Raj Thackeray and SP leader Abu Asim Azmi''.
In a letter to Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Mr Kamat has blamed the police for its ''inaction'' in preventing the damage in the city and the state, allegedly caused by MNS workers.
The delay in registering a case and arresting the leaders, has led people to point fingers at the state government, Mr Kamat has said in the letter.
The MRCC chief has demanded that the phone records of Mr Azmi and Mr Thackeray should be called for by the police to gather evidence for the case. He has welcomed the government's decision to reduce the number of security personnel for Mr Thackeray and Mr Azmi.
