Entire country have contributed to develop Mumbai, says Patil
Raipur, Feb 14 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said the people of the entire country have contributed their mite to develop Mumbai.
''Mumbai is the pride of our nation'', he said while replying to questions about the recent trouble in Maharashtra that led to attack on north Indians.
Asked whether a system of work permits has to be introduced as there were similar protests against 'outsiders' in states such as Assam and Maharashtra, the union minister said, ''The constitution is very clear. Every citizen has the right to work in any state. The system of quota, permit and licence would only create more problems''.
Pointing out that vested interests were out to divide the nation on the lines of religion, caste, region, language, and even urban and rural, he said they were overlooking the larger interests of the nation as well as society.
''Everybody knows why these forces were creating such trouble'', he added.
