EC can hold election before May under newly drawn constituencies:BJP

New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Welcoming the decision of the Union Cabinet accepting the notification of the Delimitation Commission, the BJP today urged the Government to obtain Presidential assent and hold elections before May 28 in Karnataka under the newly drawn assembly constituencies.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the Cabinet approving the proposal need not result in delaying elections any further as Election Commissioner was on record that they would be in a postion to hold elections in two months.

He added that if the government were to obtain Presidential assent, even then the EC would have two months to hold elections without extending the President's Rule any further.
