Eat Berries and reduce risk of heart attacks
London, Feb 14 (UNI) Eating a handful of berries a day can dramatically reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, said experts.
A handful of raspberries, strawberries or blackcurrants can lower blood pressure, boost good cholesterol and thin the blood to prevent clotting, the Daily Mirror reported today.
After eating two portions of berries a day for just two months, blood pressure, cholesterol levels and blood ''stickiness'' all improved in a group of volunteers in Helsinki, Finland.
''The amount of berries consumed was moderate,'' researchers said in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
