Congress expels two state committee members in Tripura
Agartala, Feb 14 (UNI) Two Congress leaders were today expelled for going against party decision in Tripura.
Abdul Motin Chowdhury, a Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) member, revolted after he was denied ticket for Kurti Assembly constituency in north district and filed nomination as an Independent candidate against Congress candidate Abdul Nurul Houque.
Another TPCC member Premtosh Nath did the same at Sabroom in south district.
President of TPCC Samir Ranjan Burman announced their removal from the party.
He said both of them were requested not to contest the election, adding the direction also came from the high command.
They did not pay any attention to the party's interests, and they had to face the axe, he added.
Mr Burman mentioned that the decision had been communicated to the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
