Centre proposes to set up Six AIISH in the country

Mysore, Feb 14 (UNI) The Union Government proposes to set up six All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) across the country during the next one year, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Director General of Health Services Dr R K Srivastava said today.

Speaking after inaugurating a two-day national workshop on "Voice Assessment and Management' organised by AIISH here, he said that at present AIISH was situated at five places-Delhi, Mumbai, Pondicherry, Chennai and Mysore and it was necessary to establish more such centres to cater to the needs of increasing patients.

Dr Srivastava said that a proposal for more allocation of funds for the development of AIISHs in the country would be sent to the Union Government.

More than 100 delegates from all over the country are taking part in the Workshop. The Workshop was jointly organised by AIISH, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi and Medical Council of India.
