AP Govt to take up waterways project in Godavari, Krishna
Hyderabad, Feb 14 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government will take up canal navigation projects in Godavari and Krishna rivers after the completion of the techno-economic feasibility study, Minister for Infrastructure and Investments, Ports and Airports M Venkata Ramana Rao said today.
Replying to a question by Congress MLC B Kamalakar Rao in the Council, Mr Rao said Rites Ltd, a Government of India enterprise, had been entrusted with the feasibility study under a centrally sponsored scheme for the development of inland waterways in Krishna and Godavari canals.
The agency was expected to submit its report by April 2008, he said adding that the navigation facility would be provided from Badhrachalam to Rajahmundry in Godavari river.
