Two sisters charred to death in north Bihar

Patna, Feb 13 (UNI) Two sisters were burnt alive in a major fire that broke out in several thatched huts at Kadva village under Sheohar police station in this north Bihar district today.

SDO Noor Alam told UNI here that the mishap occurred when nine houses in the village caught fire one after another, killing both on the spot.

The fire was believed to have originated from one of the huts.

Though all other inmates of the burning houses fled in time, the two children could not do so and were charred to death, the SDO said adding the local authorities had already announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5,000 each to the next of kin of the deceased.

The remote village, close to the Indo-Nepal border, was situated at about 80 km from the district headquarters here.
