Text books disbursed to SC students in Haryana
Chandigarh, Feb 13 (UNI) The Haryana government has disbursed text books amounting to Rs 1.95 crore during the current financial year to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes and studying in Government colleges While stating this here today Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta said as many as 8909 students had been benefited by this scheme.
He said under the scheme, a sum of Rs two crore had been earmarked during the current financial year.
Mr Gupta said under the remedial coaching scheme Special, incentives to the students of weaker sections were being provided in Science, Maths and English subjects. Under the scheme special coaching for three months in an academic year in each subject would be imparted to the students and incentive was being given to the Lecturers at the rate of Rs 800 per subject per month, per class. A sum of Rs 10 lakh had been earmarked under the scheme.
The Education Minister said the Education Department has decided to run soft skill programmes in all the Government colleges through EDUSAT to enable the students to face challenges ahead in the age of globalisation.
