Poisonous gases kill 4, 1 ill

Balurghat, Feb 13 (UNI) At least four persons were killed and another taken ill following suffocation by poisonous gases at a jaggery-making factory in Raiganj area of North Dinajpur district today.

DIG D T Lepcha said the ailing person was admitted to the Raiganj Hospital.

''Suffocation by poisonous gases, emitted in the factory, is suspected to be the cause of the deaths,'' the DIG told newsmen.

A case had been registered against the factory owner and he would be arrested, the DIG added.
