JK: Man buried under snow in Doda
Jammu, Feb 13: A man was buried alive under snow after an avalanche struck a remote village in Thathri tehsil of Jammu and Kashmir's mountainous Doda district, sources today said.
The body of one Ghulam Nabi, 40, was exhumed from the snow at Champara Kahara village of Thathri this morning.
The victim, who had left home to fetch water, came under a sudden avalanche last evening, sources said.
Several villages in Doda district were still unapproachable due to the recent heavy snowfall. ''Population at Thanta, Bani, Sunga, Kither, Baonga and several other villages is facing acute scarcity of essential commodities, like kerosene oil and eatables,'' a UNI correspondent at Bhaderwah said.
