Maharashtra developments highlight Congress' failures : BJP
New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) While declining to react on the arrest of Maharashtra Navnirman Samiti leader Raj Thackeray, the BJP today said that the developments in the state for the last ten days highlighted the failure of the ruling Congress-NCP coalition.
Accusing the Congress for deliberately prolonging a situation that could have been controlled in hours for using the targetted attacks of the MNS on north-Indian population, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the government was deliberately allowed a long rope to Mr Thackeray to divert the people's attention from the real issues haunting the people -- farmers suicide and power shortage.
The attacks was used to divide the Marathi society in the name of MNS attacks by the Congress and to create scare in the minds of non-Maharashtrians and gain their sympathies by posing themselves as their champions, he added.
He said even today the Congress and the MNS are having alliances atleast in six corporations and control the Mira Bhayander Corporation, but added that it would not bring the Congress any electoral benefits. He took exception to the 'silence' of people like Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi and Teesta Setalwad when attacks were taking place in Mahrashtra but otherwise were were bringing down the roofs down over the riots in other parts of the country.
