Indian kills compatriot after tiff over girl

Dubai Feb 13: An Indian, who worked as janitor in a hotel here, has been arrested for killing his compatriot for proposing to a Nepalese girl with whom he was in love.

The 26-year-old Indian, identified as S.N., battered the victim with a hockey stick after he found out that "they had proposed to the same woman," according to court records. The suspect was also critically injured and was in hospital following an accident while disposing of his victim's blood-soaked clothes, the Gulf News said. The incident happened at an Al Qouz labour accommodation site.

The site's watchman discovered the victim's body and reported the matter to police. Medical reports said the victim died of skull fractures and deep knife wounds.
