Heroin worth Rs 3 cr seized in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 13 (UNI) Three kilograms of contraband heroin, worth Rs 3 crore in the international market, and 700 gms opium were recovered today from the International Border (IB) in R S Rura Sector, about 30 kms from here, official spokesman said.

Three packets of one kilogram heroin each and 700 gms opium were recovered during morning searches near Krotana Khurd border Out Post (BOP), BSF spokesman Pawan Kumar Sharma told UNI.

''Troops had challenged some unidentified people after they observed suspected movement during the night, but no one was arrested or wounded in action,'' he said, asserting that an ambush was laid after receiving an input regarding smuggling of narcotics from the area.

''Pak Afghan Showkat'' was imprinted on the packets seized by 129 BSF Battalion, the spokesman disclosed.
