CPI demands compensation to farmers
Hyderabad, Feb 13 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh Secretary K Narayana today demanded that the Government pay Rs 5000 as compensation to the farmers, whose crops were damaged due to torrential rains in the State.
A press release here said the farmers were in distress and they need financial relief to overcome their debt burden.
Demanding that the Government also sanction an exgratia of Rs five lakh to the family of M Subba Rao, who died of cardiac arrest, when his crop was destroyed in Prakasam district on February 11, Mr Narayana said Crop Insurance' scheme should be introduced in the State to protect the farmers.
