Bring in more reforms in high learning: NAAC Chief
Dharwad, Feb 13 (UNI) To empower youth with better skills in the knoledge driven economy, there is a need to bring in more reforms in higher learning, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Chairman Goverdhan Mehta said today.
Delivering the 58th Convocation address at Karnataka University here, he said universities and high education institutions need to reform, restructure and rejuvenate themselves.
He said though the country produced a huge number of graduates most of them were termed as 'unemployable' and this was disturbing.
Stressing the need to strike a balance between 'learning and skills', he said the universities had to make a major departure from the learning centric education which was in practice now.
The primacy of research will have to be restored in the universities, which had seen diminished research out put. This anomaly needed immediate correction, he added.
