Bangalore, Feb 13 (UNI) The number of voters in Karnataka would come down drastically with the State Election Commisson (SEC) deleting the names of nearly 52 lakh 'excess voters from the old rolls.
Talking to newspersons here, state Chief Electoral Officer R Ramaseshan said following the latest revision work taken up in the entire state, the SEC would come out with the final list of voters on March 10. The total number of voters was likely to drop to 3.98 crore from 4.3 crore. About 20 lakh new voters have been included in the revised list.
He said the draft list of 28 Districts would be made available tomorrow and people could file complaints about inclusion or deletion, if any, before February 24.
However, in the case of Bangalore Urban and Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) the date for inclusion was enhanced to February 18 and the draft rolls would be made available on website on February 26 for public comments.
The final list of the complete electoral rolls would be made available on SECs website on March 10 and there will be no change in this date, the SEC clarified.
Replying to a question, Mr Ramaseshan said names can be included in the voters list even after the final list was announced.
According to the rules, the inclusion may be allowed till nominations are withdrawn.
