188 clerks sacked for underweighing sugarcane
Lucknow, Feb 13 (UNI) At least 12 sugar mills were booked and 188 clerks expelled, following gross irregularities during sugarcane weighing in Uttar Pradesh.
Under a campaign to abort such malpractice, 1,197 cases had been unearthed, in which notices were issued against 157 purchase centres, four cases registered in court, while other 45 under the discretion of District Magistrates concerned, official sources said today.
According to a government spokesperson, during inspection at 5,772 purchase centres, gross discrepencies were detected at 179 of them.
Official inquiry had already been initiated, besides booking eight mills.
