Youth detained in connection with paedophile case

Alappuzha, Feb 12 (UNI) Police detained a youth for questioning in connection with a paedophile case here today.

The case related to an incident in which a person allegedly harassed 16 school children by luring them with acting offers in a television serial.

Police said Vipin, hailing from Ernakulam district, was picked up for interrogation to find the whereabouts of Biju (40), the prime accused in the case.

It was alleged that Biju, along with Vipin, approached the authorities of Naluchira Government Upper Primary School at Thottappally, south of Alappuzha District, seeking permission to shoot the serial at the school premises.

Police said Vipin had provided a rented house for Biju at Thottappally, where the crime was committed.

Meawhile, the parents demanded a departmental investigation against the headmaster, who is under suspension, for allowing the accused to select students from the school.
