UP plans high value plantation project: 3 new zoo in the state

Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) In a bid to increase the green cover in Uttar Pradesh, the state government today proposed a ''high value plantation project'', financial provisions for which were made in the Budget today.

The government has allocated Rs 837.43 lakh for the project under which high value varieties of saplings would be planted across UP.

The project would be sponsored by NABARD under which block plantation drives would be carried out.

The government has also allocated funds to set up zoological parks in Gorakhpur, Agra and Moradabad. A symbolic provision of Rs 3000 has been made for the same. The required funds would be provided later.

A veterinary hospital has also been proposed inside the Lucknow zoological garden. An amount of Rs 184.43 lakh has been earmarked for the purpose. A new toy train would be purchased for the Lucknow zoo with a cost of Rs 25.20 lakh.
