Temperature drops to sub zero in Amritsar

Jalandhar, Feb 12: There was no relief from the cold wave as night temperatures dropped to sub zero in Amritsar, turning it into the coldest place in Punjab.

The holy city registered the minimum at minus 1.0 degrees Celsius from 2.8 degrees on Sunday night. The Indian Air Force (IAF) base at Adampur remained below the zero degree mark for the second successive night. The minimum here was minus 0.6 degrees.The minimum at the IAF base at Halwara was 1.2 degrees, the same as yesterday night.

The night temperatures in the Malwa belt rose by one to two degrees, with Bhatinda recording 3.4 degrees. The border town of Pathankot was cold at 3.4 degrees.

However, the night temperature in Chandigarh registered an increase of two degrees and was recorded at 7.0 degrees while at Ambala it dropped to 3.8 degrees.
