Pudukkottai fishermen continue strike
Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, Feb 12 (UNI) The strike by fishermen of Jegadapattinam in this district, entered the second day today against the ''indiscriminate shooting'' by the Sri Lankan Navy in which a fisherman from Sellanenthal hamlet was killed on February 9.
They demanded from the Centre protection to their lives and property when they ventured into the sea.
According to the Jegadapattinam Mechanised Boat Fishermen Association President G Ramakrishnan, about 300 members of the Association were on strike.
In a statement here, Country Boat Owners' Association President M Karnan said the Centre should take immediate action to retrieve possession of areas taken over by the Lankan Navy.
