Police officer's son opens fire in Jammu
Jammu, Feb 12 (UNI) Son of a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police of the Jammu and Kashmir Police opened indiscriminate fire creating panic late last evening, police said here today.
Police said panic gripped the entire Gujjar Nagar area here when Mehmood Naseer, 32, son of retd DSP Din Mohammad Choudhary started firing from his father's 12 bore licensed weapon from a room of his house after bolting it from inside.
''He fired three shots from the weapon. However no incident of injury to any body occurred,'' said a police officer.
However, it was later found that the youth was mentally unstable and was undergoing treatment, police said adding, ''we had to make a lot of efforts to persuade the youth to stop firing.'' He was later arrested while the weapon was seized and a case has been registered against him.
