LET district commander among two killed in Poonch

Jammu, Feb 12 (UNI) A district commander of the Lashker-e-Toiba (LET) was among two militants gunned down this afternoon by security forces in tehsil Mendhar of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.

They said that on a tip off, a joint operation was launched by the Army and Special Operation Group (SOG) in village Saloti of Mendhar.

''The militants opened fired on the operation party which was returned and both the militants of LET outfit including the district commander were eliminated,'' sources told UNI adding that their identities were yet to be ascertained An AK 56, four magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

The area was cordoned off and a search operation has been launched, they added.
