ECI issues fresh instruction for sector management
Agartala, Feb 12 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has instructed the Tripura panel to arrange separate sector officers at stations, where distance between polling booths was more than 30 kms, for the February 23 Assembly polls.
Talking to mediapersons here today, Deputy Election Commissioner (DEC) R Balakrishnan said the ECI has emphasised on sector management to ensure proper polling.
Mr Balakrishnan arrived here on Sunday to hold meeting with the Observers, District Magistrates, SP and Returning Officers in all four districts to review the pre-poll preparations.
He had also clarified that the officers should strictly monitor the situation ad take stringent action against those violating code of conduct.
Mr Balakrishnan has also instructed the Observers to look into the expenditure of the contesting candidates on a regular basis and monitor the events of the parties.
''No political party will be allowed to carry supporters on trucks and candidates should display their car pass issued by the Returning Officers. No flags or festoons beyond eight feet of height will be allowed,''Mr Balakrishnan informed.
