Bootleggers sent to prison under Prohibition Act

Kancheepuram, Feb 12 (UNI) District Collector Santosh K Misra today ordered detention of four bootleggers under the Prohibition Act.

Police sources said this followed a recommendation from SP K Periayya who was spearheading strong action on illicit liquor in the district.

Accordingly, Ramesh (32), Joseph (34), Marimuthu (37) and Ganesan (37) were taken to Puzhal Prison at Chennai.

Separately, Chegalpet Prohibition Inspector Gopal and Madurantakam Prohibition Inspector Kannan were suspended for dereliction of duty.
