Bhagat Singh's statue to be installed in Parliament House
New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) A statue of Shahid-e-Azam Bhagat Singh will be installed in the Parliament House and Punjab will get the statue sculpted, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said today.
Mr Badal gave the information while congratulating Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee for taking a decision to this effect.
'' It is a matter of great honour and satisfaction for the people of Punjab that one of their sons is the most honoured and admired martyr in the struggle for the freedom of the country,'' said Mr Badal.
The current year is the birth centenary of the Sardar Bhagat Singh. Against this background, the tabloid of the Punjab Government for the Republic Day Celebration at New Delhi has also depicted the significance of the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.
Bhagat Singh was cremated on March 23, 1931 , at Hussainawala village, near Ferozepur. The village is situated close to the Indo-Pak border.
In 1968, the Punjab Government raised the memorial to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru and dedicated the same to the nation.
