Arunachal Press condemns attack on NE TV CMD

Itanagar, Feb 12: The Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and Itanagar Press Club today condemned the incident of firing on NE TV Chief Managing Director Manoranjana Singh on Sunday night.

It is an attempt to muzzle the voice of media working against all odds in the North Eastern region, the APUWJ stated. The Press has been doing yeoman service in the greater interest of the society and such attacks aimed at scuttling the freedom of the fourth pillar of democracy, which would affect the process of development in this backward region, it added.

They also called upon the Assam government to bring the culprits to book and provide security to media persons, vulnerable to such attacks, so that they could discharge their duties without any fear.
