Airport employees embark on fast in TN

Chennai, Feb 12: About 100 employees affiliated to the Airports Authority Employees Union observed a token fast as part of a nation-wide stir to press their demands.

Airport sources said the employees observed the fast at the Administrative building. They were demanding, among other things, introduction of pension scheme, compassionate appointment for the kin of those who die in harness, timely payment of overtime allowances and time-bound promotions.

However, the agitation did not have any impact on the services at the airport here, the sources said. Similar fasts were being observed in all the 126 airports in the country.
