SMKFIT ties with US varsity to offer MSE degree

Chennai, Feb 11 (UNI) Shree Motilal Kanhaiyalal Fomra Institute of Technology (SMKFIT), an ISO certified institution and part of the Motilal Kanhaiyalal Fomra Charitable Trust, has tied up with US-based University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-L) to offer MSE (Master of Software Engineering) degree for their students.

The course, offered by the University of Wisconsin, was equivalent to an MS (Computer Science), a release said here today.

''The students need to complete their first year at SMKFIT and the second year in the US to complete the degree,'' it said.

The cost of the study here would be two lakhs rupees and the tuition fee in the US would be 14,000 dollars.

Each student in the programme must complete 24 credits of course work and 12 credits of project work.

The course work consists of five core courses and three elective courses.

The core courses include Object-Oriented Software Development, Software Engineering Principles, Formal Methods in Software Development, Software Verification and Validation and Management Issues in Software Engineering.

The students could choose three electives from ten courses offered.

A Software development project would have to be completed either in India or in the US or both, the release added.
