Oprah Winfrey opens her first store in Chicago

Washington, Feb 11 : Chat show queen Oprah Winfrey has launched her first store in her native Chicago, Illinois, including products branded with her name.

The store is filled with the media tycoon's favourite books, music, and clothes - all with the Oprah label, reports Contactmusic.

Winfrey's publicist claims that the shop is a "speciality store full of merchandise that represents the style and taste Oprah celebrates and shares on The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Recently, it was revealed that Oprah is set to add a US cable network to her ever-expanding media empire.

The talk show queen is to team up with Discovery Networks to launch OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Though the ownership will be split evenly between the two parties, Oprah will control the channel's editorial content as well its Web site, and will also serve as chairman of the network.

The new channel will debut in 2009 in more than 70 million homes, on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel.
