BHEL Dy GM, wife commit suicide

Bangalore, Feb 11: A top official of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) and his wife committed suicide in their car in the city last night, police said today.

They said the couple, Veerendra Kumar (50), Deputy General Manager in the city-based unit of BHEL and Usha (40), took the extreme step as they were dejected after suffering a huge loss in chit fund business. There were also court cases against Usha.They went out from their house in Avalahalli area in their Santro car and committed suicide by consuming poision. The bodies were noticed in the car by night beat policemen near BDA park in the area in the early hours today, police said. While their son was settled in Netherlands, their married daughter was living separately in the city.
