V-day: HMK protests against obscene cards
Chennai, Feb 10 (UNI) About 20 activists of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) were arrested when they staged a demonstration on the Marina beach in protest against printing obscene pictures in greeting cards for Valentine's day.
One of the HMK functionary said in the name of celebrating Valentine's day, several companies were printing obscene pictures in greeting cards, which was against Tamil tradition and culture.
The HMK wanted the police to take action against those involved in such offences to protect Tamil culture.
All the arrested were released later, police said.
Meanwhile, city police have warned of stern action against those behaving in an indecent manner in public on Valentine's day.
