Second phase pulse polio campaign launched in Pondy
Puducherry, Feb 10 (UNI) The second phase of the pulse polio immunisation programme began here today with a target of immunising 93,574 children below five years in the Union Territory.
According to an offical release here, as many as 416 booths and 820 teams, each comprising four members, were set up to administer polio drops in all the four regions of the Union Territory.
There were around 71,320 children below five years in Puducherry region alone.
Polio drops would be administered between 0700 and 1500 hrs in all the hospitals, where special counters were opened for the purpose.
Special booths would be established in railway station and bus stand and also at villages in the border region. There would also be a door-to-door campaign in the next two days, the release added.
