Maramon Convention gets under way

Pathanamthitta, Kerala, Feb 10 (UNI) The 113th Maramon Convention, billed as the largest Christian congregation in Asia, began on the bed of river Pampa today.

Inaugurating the eight-day convention, Metropolitan Dr Joseph Marthoma the supreme head of the Marthoma Church, said the perfection of Kingdom of God was based on the relationship between man and God. Man was solely responsible for the loss of paradise.

But, God, in his boundless mercy, sought the 'Lost Man'. Man should accept his mistake in order to renew himself.

The Metropolitan said the perspective of the country rooted in value-based democratic nationalism was similar in various respects to the Kingdom of God.

He called upon the devotees to treat the eco-system as a part and parcel of spiritualism and lamented that the man was alienated from his environment. He advised man to be compassionate to all creations.

Philipose Mar Chrisostem, who presided over the religious meet, opined that the individual should regain softness of heart.
