Father drowns with son while immersing ashes of elder son

Panipat, Feb 10 (UNI) In a tragic turn of events, a man father drowned with his young son in the Western Yamuna Canal while immersing the mortal remains of his elder son in the Canal near Panipat here today.

Parveen Jindal (52) and his younger son Alok (20) of Panipat had taken the mortal remains of Vijay Jindal to immersion in the Canal.

While Parveen was performing the ceremony, he slipped into the deep Canal. His son jumped into the waters in a bid to rescue his father but was swept away by the current.

The body of Parveen Jindal was taken out by some divers who were present on the occasion but the body of Alok has not yet been recovered from the fast flowing Canal despite all efforts.

The body of Parveen was brought to local civil hospital and was handed over to the family members of the victims .
