Cases registered against two candidates in South Tripura
Agartala, Feb 10 (UNI) Cases have registered against two candidates for allegedly violating the provisions of the Tripura Prevention of Defacement of Property Act under Birganja Police Station area in South Tripura.
Police said here today that the ARO of Birganja constituency and ECI observers found that the election booth offices of both the CPI(M) and Congress were set up at Miah Bazar area on two separate pieces of land belonging to private individuals without the written permission of the landowners as per the directives of the commission.
Police registered a case against CPI(M) candidate of the constituency Monoranjan Acharjee and Congress candidate Jawhar Saha yesterday for violation of the provisions of the Tripura Prevention of Defacement of Property (Amendment) Act, 1998, and an investigation has already been launched.
Meanwhile, police launched an investigation following the case registered against a voter for allegedly submitting forged documents at the time of enrolling his name in the voters list.
The accused Liason Jamatia had submitted a fake school certificate as age proof for inclusion of his name in the electoral rolls in April last year.
