Bihar govt signs MoUs to upgrade ITIs

Patna, Feb 10 (UNI) The Bihar government has signed MoUs with six business groups for the modernisation and upgradation of an equal number of ITIs to be developed as ''Centres of Excellence''.

Speaking on the occasion of the signing of the MoUs here yesterday, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the business groups concerned would also constitute expert committees to professionally manage the affairs of the six ITIs, adding that they would function as ''autonomous units''.

''The state government is determined to revolutionise the courses offered by the ITIs for imparting qualified training to the students to meet the national as well as international demands in the ever-changing industrial scenario and job market,'' he said.

He further informed that the state government had decided to induct industry partners, on 'public-private partnership model', to introduce necessary changes in the existing courses and make it a job-oriented curricula.

''The government is committed to produce potential employers and not just the job-seekers. A large number of the students, who would be trained in these market-oriented ITIs, would be in a position to start their own enterprises eventually,'' he added.
