All-party meet's call on KG Basin Gas reserve

Kakinada, Feb 10 (UNI) The need for united struggle to ensure gas reserves in the Krishna-Godavari Basin are utilised to meet the needs of Andhra Pradesh first has been emphasised by several speakers at an all-party meeting here today.

The speakers, including MLAs Mutha Gopalakrishna and Dommeti Venkateswarlu and CPI (M) City Secretary Ch Ajay kumar CPI (M) were unanimous in their demand for State Government's initiative in protecting the KG Basin reserves from being enjoyed by other States.

They alleged Reliance Petroleum was transporting the gas in KG Basin to Gujarat through pipelines and voiced demand for a united struggle to protect Andhra Pradesh's interests.

The meeting suggested the state government to take up hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation in KG basin by creating a separate corporation on the lines of Gujarat.
