Kidney scam: SIM cards obtained from kingpins

Kathmandu, Feb 9: A special team of the city police has obtained two SIM card numbers used by Jeevan Kumar, who is allegedly involved in the multi-crore kidney racket with his brother and kingpin Dr Amit Kumar, police sources said.

The sources yesterday informed that two calls were made from the numbers to Kathmandu at around 0700 hrs (local time) to 0800 hrs (local time). ''We have traced the telephone talks between Jeevan Kumar and somebody in Kathmandu,'' the sources said, adding that the calls were made from Chitwan district from where Dr Amit Kumar was nabbed on Thursday. However, chief of Metropolitan Police Crime Division SSP Upendra Kant Aryal didn't confirm it but added that the investigation team led by DSP Sher Bahadur Basnet is working on it.

''Amit had met Pankaj Jha, alleged Nepali agent for kidney racket, just for two times whereas Jeevan and Pankaj had frequent meetings,'' Mr Aryal told the Himalayan Times.
