Kidney racket mastermind brought to Delhi
New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) Kidney scam kingpin Dr Amit Kumar was brought here today after he was handed over to the CBI by Nepalese authorities in Kathmandu, two days after his arrest in the Himalayan nation.
Dr Kumar was brought here aboard Indian Airlines Flight IC-814 at 1855 hrs. He was expected to be brought out from the Indira Gandhi International Airport's Exit No. II but was later taken away from Haj Terminal to escape media glare, according to airport officials.
They added that Dr Kumar was on his way to the CBI office now.
The mastermind behind the multi-crore human organ scam was arrested on Thursday from a Sauraha-based hotel in Chitwan district, about 60 km from the Indian border town of Raxaul.
The medic was handed over to a CBI team in Kathmandu. The Nepal government said it would proceed with the cases against him in the Himalayan nation after his trial in India.
The kingpin was extradited after India took up the matter of his deportation with Nepal yesterday.
After the matter was formally transferred to the CBI yesterday, the agency approached the Government of Nepal through the Embassy in Kathmandu for handing him over.
