Elderly should be given due respect: Vice President
New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari today called upon the people to reexamine the status of elderly people in the country and develop ways to provide them greater safety and security.
Inaugurating a seminar on "Contours of Ageing in India - Seeking Peace and Security", here, the Vice President emphasised the need to adhere to traditional values and said the elderly people should be given due respect and be treated as assets.
He appreciated the efforts of the The Guild of Service, organisers of the seminar, in support of elderly people. The Guild is a voluntary organization working with a mandate of servicing and strengthening the marginalised persons in India.
