Catalonia companies looking for Indian collaboration
Hyderabad, Feb 9 (UNI) Biocat Executive Committee President Manel Balcells has projected Catalonia state in Spain as the 'landing point'for the Indian biotechnology and life sciences companies to capture the European market.
Talking to reporters at the BIOAsia-2008, the global bio-business forum, he said that leading Catalonia, companies had developed therapautic vaccine for Tuberculosis, Malaria and Hepatitis and were looking for collaboration with Indian biotech companies.
BIOCAT, representing over 250 biotech and lifesciences companies, had entered into an MoU with the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations for furthering the cooperation between Catalonia and Indian companies, he said.
BIOCAT had facilitated the collaborative agreements between Biocon (India) and Uriach (Catalonia), Biocon and Salvat Biotech, Dr Reddy's Lab and Salvat Biotech and Avestagen and Oryzon Genomics.
Catalonia, which had six dedicated biomedical and agro-nutritional Scientific Parks and Technology centres, was keen on collaborating with the University of Hyderabad and also Genome Valley, he said.
