AP to market, process agriculture produce

Hyderabad, Feb 9 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today said the state government has taken steps for marketing and processing agriculture produce in a big way.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the government has decided to make the food processing department, presently under the Ministry of Industries, into Ministry of Marketing and Food Processing to give a big boost to the food processing industry. The new ministry will establish branches of food processing department in every district and it will function in coordination with horticulture, agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry and industries departments, he said.

He said the Centre will provide subsidies to the food processing industry and the state government will utilise the opportunity to create more employment, the minister added.
