US not to accept any deal that allows Taliban to re-organise in Pak

Washington, Feb 9 : The United States has said that it would not accept any deal that allows the Taliban to re-organise themselves in Pakistan's tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.

The State US Department signalled it would oppose any agreement that resembled the last truce.

"I think everyone understands that that agreement with tribal leaders did not in fact produce the results that everyone had intended," Deputy Spokesman Tom Casey said.

"We would certainly want to see that any arrangement made was effective at pursuing common goal of US and Pakistan, which is being able to defend against these kinds of extremist groups," he said.

"We want to see an agreement that is effective; the last agreement was not effective by President Musharraf's own admission," The News quoted Casey, as saying.
