3 dead, one seriously injured in bus accident
Kolkata/Howrah, Feb 9 (UNI) Altogether three people were killed and one was seriously injured in different road accidents here and Howrah today.
Police said a 61-year-old retired school teacher died after being run over by a speeding bus on VIP road at Baguiati in the northern fringes of the city.
The victim has been identified and the body sent for post mortem.
In another incident, a woman (50) also met the same fate at Mullick Bazar here. The victim died on the spot.
The driver of the bus has been arrested, police said.
Meanwhile, a report from Howrah said that an eight-year-old boy was killed and a person (45) seriously injured after being hit by a speeding truck on NH 6 at Paniada.
The injured has been rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.
Irate mob at all these places have staged demonstrations protesting against rash driving, which have claimed several lives in the recent past.
