Two day conference of blind begins here tomorrow
Varanasi, Feb 8 (UNI) A two days conference of the National Federation of the Blind, Uttar Pradesh branch is beginning at Nagar Mahapalika Auditorium here tomorrow.
Almost two thousand blind delegates from different parts of the state are expected to assemble in the conference that would highlight the problems being faced by them.
Varanasi Mayor Kaushalendra Singh would inaugurate the conference, National Federation of the Blind (UP) president S K Singh said.
Welcoming the recent announcement of various welfare schemes for the blind by chief minister Mayawati, he suggested proper implementation of the schemes.
''Such announcements were made by earlier government's too, but they were not implemented,'' Mr Singh underlined.
The major problems being faced by blind were unemployment, promotion in services and scholarship, he said, adding there was provision of one per cent reservation to blind in the government services, but it was never implemented.
