Train service commences from Pondy to Villupuram

Puducherry, Feb 8 (UNI) The shuttle train service between Puducherry and Villupuram started this morning.

As announced earlier, the morning trip from Puducherry could not be operated at 0800 hrs as there was no train.

However, the second and return trip from Villupuram to Puducherry reached the station here with about 40 passengers.

The next trip would be in the evening only and the train was stationed here.

Minister of State for Railways Velu had assured the running of shuttle train between Puducherry and Villupuram.

The Railways proposed to operate six trips a day on an experimental basis and later, the number of trips would be increased on the basis of response from the passangers.
