Prison Chief Warden arrested in Karnataka

Madikeri, Feb 8: Corps of Detective (CoD) officers today arrested Madikeri District Prison Chief Warden S Chandra on the charges of an alleged 'prison death' incident.

Police said the official was accused of causing the death of one K K Satish of Valnur Thyagathur village in Kodagu district in 2007.

The undertrial, accused in an excise crime, died two days after the Warden had allegedly beaten him up.

The other prisoners complained about the incident and the CoD had taken up the investigations and conducted an inquiry.

The arrested was remanded to judicial custody, police said.
