Plea to consider coffee as agricultural commodity

Madikeri,Karnataka, Feb 8 (UNI)The Indian Coffee Board has recommended to the Union Government to consider coffee as an agricultural commodity and include it for loan waiver.

A resolution to this effect was passed at the board meeting held in Bangalore recently.

The resolution also said schemes like subsidy for replantation of coffee, interest subsidy on development loan and crop loan may be included in the XI Plan, according to Board Member and Rajya Sabha Member Prema Cariappa.

She said she had also written a separate letter requesting the government to consider coffee for the above mentioned schemes.
